The Erasmus Al Sud Consortium – Connecting regions, creating worlds, was created in 2012 by the Universities of Algarve, Évora and Lisbon and by the Polytechnic Institutes of Beja and Setúbal, and encompasses an academic community of 77,624 students, 6,416 teaching staff and 3,311 non-teaching staff.
With a strong regional impact, Erasmus Al Sud contributes to the internationalisation of the member institutions by promoting mobility opportunities for learning (studies and internships), teaching and training in partner European institutions and by reinforcing cooperation and participation in international networks.

The setting up of this partnership arose from the need to create a mechanism in the south of Portugal to increase the mobility opportunities available to students, teaching and non-teaching staff from higher education institutions located in this geographical area.
